What was the hottest day in phoenix,az. history? |
Travel Info What was the hottest day in phoenix,az. history? Travel Tips Oh yeah, I remember that day. I drove from Tucson to Phoenix in my old Corolla with no A/C. The next day we went tubing on the Salt River and got sunburned so bad I blistered. I did use sunscreen but I missed a couple of spots...don't forget around your underarms when wearing a tank top. *ouch* Others To me it was July 15 2004. That was the day we were packing up a moving truck to get out of that **** hole. It was 115 degrees. Sure..not record breaking, except to us. The hottest day recorded in Phoenix was 122 degrees on June 26, 1990 Kind regards, Wendy Please remember to rate my answer, Thank you. http://www.brainyhistory.com/events/1990... yeah, Wendy is right... they had t-shirts printed up and everything... That was a bad day. Air conditioning in the house went out that day on top of it! I lived there for quit a few years and it got up to 122, I think it was in July of 1988. It was so hot hardly anyone went outside. Yeah, its a dry heat, but hot is hot! The answer that was posted earlier of 26June1990 with a temperature of 122 is the correct answer. It is easy to remember because if you add the numbers in the date 6 + 26 + 90, it adds up to 122. The airport was closed for takeoffs until the temperature dropped to 120 because the runway length at Sky Harbor was only rated out to 120 degrees. |
