TUCSON/MT.LEMMON: What are good things to do? Going there around July 7th.? |
Travel Info Looking for the best places to stop, how long the drive up takes, what kind of clothing to wear, what is a good restaurant hang out place in town (I've heard of a fondue place), what a good picnic area is, what the fees are to drive up, good bars on 4th? I wanna plan a special date in Tucson. Most thorough answer (if you have links add em) will get a best answer. Travel Tips Mt Lemmon is a very scenic drive. It takes about an hour and a half to get up there depending on how many stops you make. There are several stops on the way up and down to check out. I suggest stopping along the way. They have picnic areas all over Mt Lemmon and there even is a lake you can fish at ( Rose Canyon Lake ). Since the fire up there, much of the town is still being rebuilt. There is the Ski Lodge and the Pie Shop. ( most excellent pie ). There is a stop to pay a fee ( $ 20 ) But, alot of people just pass right by it. The pass is good for a year at all the national parks in town, like Sabino Canyon. The fondue place is called The Melting Pot. It's on the complete opposite side of town ( around River Rd and 1st ) Bars: I would recommend the University area ( 4th Ave ) O'Malleys and Maloneys are good places for music and drinks. Good food too. O'Malleys was even in Playboy's top 100 College Bar list. Risky Business ( sports bar/ restaurant ) is also a good place to hang out. There food is excellent ! They have several locations throughout Tucson. There are lots of things to see and do here. I highly recommend going to The Desert Museum. It's a museum / zoo. It's really cool. Enjoy your trip and I hope you have a great time ! I love it here and hope you will too. Don't miss! |
