Cheap, but fun activities for Children???

Travel Info
I am looking for Cheap, but fun activites for children in the Phoenix area. More towards the Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, area would be apppreciated. If there is a great Indoor activity that you know of please share. I am looking for summer fun for the kids.

Travel Tips
How old are the children? If they are on the younger side, under 10, try:
The Splash Park at Tempe Beach Park off Mill Avenue (free).
The Wave Pool at Kiwanis Recreation Center (indoors) is only like $1.50 per kid.
Makutu's Island is a little higher at $7 per kid but they can easily spend all day there.
Jeepers in Mesa is fun and can get coupons on line for two wristbands for $7.
If 8 or younger, try Mesa Museum for Youth, like $5 per kid.
A lot of the musuems do one day a month for free, check their websites or the (gocitykids.com) website.
Michaels stores have cheap art activities on Saturday AM.
Lakeshore Learning Center has free crafts on Saturday 11-3.
Hackett House in downtown Phoenix does free crafts once a month (1st Tuesday I think).
Print coupons off Chuck E Cheese website for free tokens.
There is a roller skating rink in Mesa (Great Skate or Skateland) that is only like $1.50 per kid.
The local libraries do lots of free activities, see their website.
If they are older, spring for an unlimited access pass to the 3 major water parks for $59 each (may have a family pass too).
Others
Have the fire department come over, they do events for free. just call your nearst fire department and have them transfer you to public relations.
Do you have a library card? The reason why I ask is that here in New England, the local libraries have passes to things like the Children's Museums, or other Museums, like the Museum of Fine Art. . .also the Zoo, Aquarium. . .All you have to do would be to call the reference desk and ask them what kind of passes they have and reserve one. Usually they have passes for a family of 4 - either the pass will be totally free or at a significantly reduced rate.

I used to take my kids to the Aquarium, Zoo and Childrens Museum all the time.

Not a lot of parents know about these passes. Give it a try.
There is an excellent free splash park in Espee Park in Chandler! Also if you dont mind driving a few minutes, there is a free splash park in Tempe Town Lake park. Nice place and my kids love it

Check out AZCentral.com, somewhere near the bottom of the page is a link for the top 100 things to do with kids in Phoenix. I got a lot of ideas from it
Kiwanas pool in Tempe is nice it is an indoor pool with a water slide. $3 buck to get in last time i went two years ago.
i live in chandler and have 3 small children ages 5,6,and 8.

hamilton pool in chandler (off of arizona ave and Ocotillo) offers public summer swimming for only 50 cents. it's a great pool-they have two water slides and a toddler area.

the chandler public library along with their parks and recreation program offers a ton of fun stuff for your kids to do. everything from craft classes to dance and sports ranging from 7.00 to 22.00 for up to 6 weeks of class. it's great. here is their website (click on the life and leisure link on the top to get to the parks and rec area-you can look at upcoming classes online)

hope this helps-my kids are so bored during the summer and i've done a pretty good job at finding fun things for them to do that won't cost me a fortune since there are 3 of them

good luck!!
