In Phoenix, what do you basically pay each month for each utility, like electric, gas, etc.? |
Travel Info Im thinkin of movin to Phoenix, but im curious to see how much different the cost of utilities are in Arizona. Travel Tips My house is all Electric. I have a service through SRP called MPower where I buy my electric ahead of time, put it on a card at a machine that looks like an ATM, and then feed it into a meter I have plugged into my kitchen. I am able to keep track of my energy use very easily! During the few months it is very hot, I may use up to 8 dollars a day in energy, but I like to keep my house refreshingly cold. It also helps to use blackout curtains, etc. But during most of the rest of the year, my average cost is 4-5 dollars a day. In months like March, April and Sept and october, I may only use a dollar and some odd cents a day. Also in the very hot months, I hang my clothes out to dry so that I dont have the clothes dryer heating up the house and burning energy (and money!) Others Depends on the size of your house/apt. , if its a 2 story, and where you set your thermostat, and the amount you use during peak and off-peak times. My electric bill through APS for a 2 bdr. 1 bath apt. and in the winter it's about $60 to $70 and in summer it's $120 to $140. I don't have a washer or dryer and I turn my thermostat up during the day when I'm not home. You might want to check out aps.com and see if they can give more examples. Like they said, it all depends where you live. We have a 1600 square foot house and I'm home all day with the kids. I usually keep the AC set at 78. At night, we do laundry/dishes/etc. APS has a program called The Equalizer where they average your electric use for a year then you pay X amount every month, regardless of how much energy you use. That way you can always budget your electrict bill, but in the summer rather than have a $300 electric bill, you may only pay $150. BUT in the winter, rather than having a $60 electric bill, you still pay $150. Depends on where you live if you have gas. I've lived here for 34 years and we have only had a gas house once. Good luck! In the winter my electric was 50 a month.in the summer like 150 a month. I don't have any gas service at my house it is all electric. |
