What are the best and worst parts of Phoenix? What do you like and dislike about the city?

Travel Tips
Best parts of Phoenix are N. Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, and Tempe is okay. Worst parts are almost anywhere else, downtown Phoenix area is horrible. I love the traffic, shopping, and food. I hate all the people ghetto people driving around in PV.

Well Phoenix can be a very nice city it might have some... Heat Waves, The blocks can go on forever and a few more things but Phoenix can be a nice city because of the weather (warm weather) and the landscape (rocky landscape).
Chandler, Scottsdale and Ahwatukee are the best parts of Phoenix. I'd say north Phoenix and Glendale are the worst. Parts of Mesa are run down, but parts of Mesa are nice.

I love the freeway system and the weather (no snow in the winter, hardly ever rains), close to skiing in the winter (4 hrs), close to Vegas (5 hours). Chandler Fashion Center is my favorite mall, and Superstition Springs is my next favorite. Lots of breweries and nice restaurants, great shopping and lots of stuff to do.
The best parts tend to be just north and west of downtown, and near-in suburbs like Scottsdale and Tempe. Downtown itself is improving as well.

In terms of things to like, the economy is good, and the weather is terrific during the winter. It also has an interesting landscape, with mountains and rocky outcroppings and desert wildlife mixed with grass. The biggest problems are its sprawl and limited public transportation, a limited cultural scene given the population size, and the ridiculous heat during the summer.
South, some parts of Central and West Phoenix are bad areas. Go north, or far west, like Goodyear, Surprise and Avondale. The East Side is very nice, but there are some bad parts of Mesa.

Scottsdale and Tempe for the night life.......PARTY!!!!!

Northwest and South East are safe, clean and more family oriented communities.
That's funny, you asked about Phoenix and all the best and worst parts are the outlying cities (Tempe, Mesa, Scottsdale, Glendale, Sun City, Surprise, Ahwatukee) Phoenix is great because if you want skin cancer, it's the place to go. Just kidding. If you want to sit in rush hour traffic, come to Phoenix. Just kidding. If you want cheap labor, come to Phoenix (ok, I'm sorry, that was a cheap shot). No really, we have beautiful mountains, great weather if you love the heat, our sheriff and his jail system are hilarious. It's a spread out place, all the cities run together in Arizona. In many states, the cities are so spread out but in Arizona, you can drive through 3 cities within a few miles. We keep growing, their is a lot of diversity within the community. We do have high crime rates and yes, traffic is bad but in the end, it's a great place to be.
