What kind of cable television in playa del carmen? |
Travel Info I'm going to be staying in playa del carmen for a month and need my television fix( at least my nieces who will be staying with me will). Do they have more than one cable company down there and what are the usual english speaking channels? Travel Tips They have movie channels that play english movies ( HBO ) and news stations like CNN , don't worry you wont find yourself with limited TV. =) Others There is only one main cable company in the area. It is called Cablemas, check their site (sorry it is in Spanish). They do have satellite alternatives (i.e. DirecTV) Often the option is limited to the location of the house or apartment you will be using. All cable companies have mainly Spanish channels, but they all include some English channels, including News, Sitcoms, Music, Children, Movies, Sports, etc. In fact they often have two versions of their channels one in English and another in Spanish. It is rare to have the standard USA networks, but they have special channels like Sony (Check their site) that carries most of their shows. You can also get a cheap DVD locally and rent or buy tons of cheap movies. A DVD from the USA might not play all the local DVD due to a difference on the region.
