For all you guys studying Polish....why?

Travel Info
Why learn this language? It will never be useful for you. I lived in Poland for many years. It's a nice place, but the Irish and the British, well, and the Germans, French, Italians, they are all running to Poland now to buy up all the property and impoverish the Poles even further. The Poles have to learn THEIR languages to even get a job. So, why Polish? In 10 years, it will only be useful in the villages. If it's to impress a girl, been there, did that. They prefer black men, so don't waste your time.

i think the only good reasons are a) if you're involved with a polish girl/guy or b) if you do a lot of business in poland. and in my humble opinion it's always nice to learn new languages. as for polish girls liking black guys, well, i'm sure it does happen, but not more so than in any other place like say paris, toronto, or dyersburg tennessee or something...
as for foreigners coming to poland - it's true. sad but true, that's the way capitalism works - the brits use cheap polish labor to build their economy and then use their wealth to come to places like poland to buy up real estate. warsaw for instance is not the prettiest city in europe - yet real estate prices here are now higher than in much more desirable, truly cosmpolitan cities like berlin... it's really sad. a m an iknow from poland once had a challenge when, in 5th grade, he had to learn german. his favorite uncle had been killed in the concnetration camps and could only hear the vile screams of the nazi guards. his mother explained that if he did not learn th is langiage he woud not be able to read the texts & literature in their full context - the same is of the polish language.
i understand you saying that you must know the other languages but.... for over 180 years, when poland didn't exist - the language, culture and heart of poland stayed alive and kept the people/history alive -- the same will continue.
I just answered this same question from the same person in the Languages category -- for anyone about to answer, read those responses.
He, who generalizes, generally lies... Not all (not even a majority) Polish girls prefer black men. And those who do, now have second thoughts, after the recent scandal involving an alleged author and peace activist from Cameroon, who knew he was HIV-positive, but believed that the more girls he laid, the better chance of cure he would have. But let's get back to the subject.
How would foreigners buying up property in Poland impoverish the Poles, I cannot imagine. It is obvious that when I have something to sell, I wish to sell it at the highest price possible. And when such price is paid by an Italian, am I poorer by this or richer? Those foreigners cannot and will not take these properties abroad - they will have to develop them - paying more money, probably to local developers.
Of course, you have to learn English to get a job in the UK. But in Poland? It is rather those foreign managers who are placed at the top of Polish operations by their parent companies, that want to learn Polish, in order to be able to read Polish papers, to deal with Polish partners, to go and buy some food. Not just to impress girls - girls need far more than that.
Finally - people learn Polish just for the sake of it. Quite frequently, people work and excel not in the field they have a degree in. Stanis艂aw Lem had a degree in medicine and another one in philosophy, but the world has known him as a great writer of science fiction and futuristic essays. So "being useful" is, of course, important but frequently not decisive.
Cuz polish people are cool and so is their languae my friendz polish by the way shes from poland --------->
