Any non-Polish people been to Poland for a holiday? |
Travel Info I'm thinking of going to Poland for a holiday this year and wanted an unbiased opinion of the place before I went. tell me of any hotspots there aswell Travel Tips Yes I studied for a month in Krakow which is a beautiful old European city with tons of history (that also wasn't too badly damaged in WW2). Auschwitz is nearby which is also a must see. In Krakow you should spend time at the Rynek Glowny (town market in the centre), climb the towers of the cathedral, visit Wawel castle, eat pastries and enjoy the great restaurants. There's also some memorials to Solidarity and the independence movement. Warsaw has a beautiful old town (rebuilt after the war) and several interesting museums, including the Jewish ghetto museum. I never went to Gdansk but it might be interesting to see the shipyards that gave birth to Solidarity. There may also be nice places along the Baltic coast. If you like the outdoors, Zakopane in the Tatras mountains is great for hiking, etc. People were friendly and food was good. Highly recommended. Others Yes it was fabulous with loads of different places to see. Go and enjoy it as we did. A beautiful country. I recommend Krakow, with it's picturesque old town and market. Also, Zakopane, in the Tatra Mountains, for hiking, and skiing, in season. I've seen quite a bit of Poland since I'm in a relationship with someone from there. A lot of the country is beautiful. Would like to see Wloclaw and Zamosc. You won't be disappointed with the scenic cities of Gdansk or Krakow. But I do recommend smaller places like the Mazurian lake district and a great little old town is Torun! i live here now! im 13 and moved here from elkhorn WI 2 years ago the hot spots:::>>> warszawa bia艂ystok gda艅sk i dont really like the place-id rather go to hawaii! =D but oh well hope this helps! warszawa is the capital and very busy-i like it.kinda like new york gda艅sk has a great beach!! bia艂ystok is really cool! Hi. I spent two weeks in Poland and visited the following places. Warsaw, Gdansk, Sopot (Seaside resort), Bydgoszcz, Torun, Krakow, Marlbok. Sopot is a wonderful seaside resort. Good beaches, Clubs Cafe culture etc. Every City I visited was clean the shop staff were friendly and helpful. Most Polish now learn English in School but if you can master a few words all the better. The Buses and Trams run on time and are cheap to use but the tickets are purchased from a Kiosk at the stops not on the transport. Try the local food, enjoy the Vodka including Bols Blue which is taken with Lemon Juice. Several goods books are now available such as The Rough Guide to Poland, which is packed with useful information. All in all I would recommend a visit to anyone. It is nothing like I expected Eastern Europe to be. Happy to provide more details if you want to hear. Polish Friends. Local Knowledge. |
