How is the land used in Warsaw, Poland? |
Travel Info I'm doing a project, are there any mines or anything like that... resources, agriculture, industries, vegetations, or soil or anything that is uniquley Polish? Travel Tips Warsaw is a city located in central Poland on plains. There are no mines, mountains and the like; these can be found in the south of the country. Warsaw lies on two banks of the Wis艂a (Vistula) river; a characteristic thing is that the left bank, where the bigger part of the city lies, is much taller than the right-bank district, called Praga. Therefore almost all the bridges built across the river had to compensate for that difference. This location along the river banks has made Warsaw develop mostly northwards and southwards. Big industries have never infested the city, due to the location of mineral resources - again in the south of Poland. There is only a small steel mill, a motor vehicle factory and a manufacturer of LCD screens, plus a couple of pharmaceutical manufacturers. About twenty years ago there were more: big manufacturers of vinyl records, home electronics or fluorescent lamps but rising property prices and falling demand have either killed these factories or removed them to cheaper locations. Now Warsaw is mostly a business and banking center, as well as the location of numerous cultural facilities. Others I assure you that there are no mines in Warsaw as such... Have a look through these http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&pwst=... |
