What foods if any did Poland invent? |
Travel Info Hi! I live in the United States and i'm doing a project for school. If anyone from poland could help me out and answer any of the questions they know. thanx=]]] What behavior is totally unacceptable in Poland? Are there different social classes in Poland? if so what are they? Do people in poland normally travel by land water or sea? Travel Tips What do you mean by "invent"? If you want to know about Polish traditional foods it is first "bigos", a sort of cabbage stew with different meats inside; then "pierogi" - somewhat like dumplings but with various stuffings: cabbage and mushrooms, cottage cheese, even fruits (mostly strawberries and cherries). Unacceptable behavior - anything that is vulgar, offensive or disgusting. There are no classes by birth, but rather social strata, by the work they do: farmers, manual workers, business people, self-employed service providers, state officials and officers. Most human transport is by land (trains and cars), but some goods travel along the Odra River from south no north. I hope that was helpful. Others Witeczek will hate me for saying this, but pierogi are a regional specialty, not just Polish. In Russia they are called pirogi or pirozhki; Slovaks usually deep-fry thier cabbage or goat cheese pirohy ... Kielbasa and 藕urek soup seem to have both originated in Poland. Look up either word on wikipedia for more info and pictures. I am sure you would find kielbasa in the deli case of your local supermarket. And then there are bagels, which are not "Polish" per say but were apparently first created by Jewish bakers in Poland four centuries ago. Those will be in the bakery aisle. Completely agree with Witeczeck above about behaviour and social classes. And Poland is not a marsh or island, so most people travel by land. Cheers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%c5%bburek... |
