Planning a "Jolly boys" trip to Krakow, Poland.? |
Travel Info Any suggestions on things to do and see? Or any tips? Travel Tips I used to live in Krakow - you'll love it! The main part of the city is small and definitely easy to find your way around. There are lots of great sites there! If you're there for more than a weekend, try to get out to Auschwitz (Oswiecm) or the salt mines. Both worth checking out. In Krakow, here are a few things to see: -Podgorze - this neighbourhood was the "Jewish ghetto" during WWII. -Kazimierz - the Jewish area of Krakow. -Plaszow (PWA-shoof) - the concentration camp Schindler's List is based on. -Oskar Schindler's factory. -Sukiennice - the cloth hall in the main square. -Rynek Glowny - the main square, untouched by the war. -Wawel Castle - make sure you go around the back - there's a very cool metal dragon that breaths fire! -Nowa Huta - a town built in 1949 by the Communist party; originally outside but now a part of Krakow. This is really interesting and definitely worth taking a tour or something to check it out. Anyway, hopefully those ideas will get you started! There's a lot of great food as well in Krakow and some really good shopping, especially in the Sukiennice. Others go see if you can find any ppl with the surname folga then come let me know My family are from poland and it a beautifull place.its cheap and cheerful.many many cheap vodka??ha,have fun.its a great place:) I spent a few days in Krakow recently. It's a fun, small, self explanatory city that is easy to navigate. There are lots of bars, there are a few main areas that have eateries and bars, such as the main square (Rynek Glowny), and basically all the side streets around there. If you are interested in historical sites, Wawel Castle was a fun tour, although it wasn't anything amazing, just typical old paintings and architecture, etc. There is a neat and well done Jewish Museum in the Jewish quarter of town (which was less touristy, more residential, but interesting to take a walk through at least). Go shopping in the Cloth Factory, and haggle for some good deals on jewelry and souvenirs. Go to church, there's hundreds of them. Most importantly the zloty is cheap compared to most other currencies, and you can eat and drink well in Krakow! Have fun! Jolly boys going to churches, Jewish museums and some historical sites ... A good one, yes ... . No, seriously - brothels are usually called AGENCJA TOWARZYSKA and if they're not, the signeage is pretty straightforward - whatever or whoever you happen to fancy - just browse for them on www.wp.pl or www.onet.pl. Durex condoms are one of the most common brands here. But if you want to see those museums ... well, yes, then I apologise for farting through my brain. I think this will be very useful: http://www.joemonster.org/article/7296/k... |
