Driving in Poland? |
Travel Info Hello You who have been to Poland or you who are Polish - can you please tell me what it is like to drive in Poland. Is there a lot of traffic? Parking in cities? Car theft? Travel Tips Mostly country roads and minor lanes. Driving is difficult in the cities and traffic can be a real problem. Police will have you for speeding in the villages and on the outskirts of town. I have been done three times for speeding. they always wait and hide around a bend just after a speed restriction sign. They have cardboard cutout cars in some places. You have to drive with your lights on at all times. Waggons from Russia and Lithuania are a mega problem they don't slow down when there is not enough passing space and expect you to go down the ditch. Drunk drivers are very common. You can find yourself stuck behind a tractor or a horse and cart. Parking in cities not a problem you can always pay for a secured place. Polish drivers are by far the worst i have come across in 50 years. The white line in the centre of the road is something they try and keep one wheel each side of. Car theft: I have lived in Poland for nearly three years and do not know of a single car theft. I have not even read about one in the local papers. There was a programme on Polish TV where a rally driver said " Remember when you take your car out on Polish roads it may be the last time you see your home" Don't get me wrong here Poland is a great place, and if you bear in mind that the car coming towards you could have a drunk driver at the wheel its not so bad. I don't think the drink thing is so bad around the big cities, but in the country where i live almost everyone is on the pop including the tractor drivers. Watch out for cyclists in the country you can find them down a ditch at 9.am drunk as skunks. the vilage shops open at 6.am and as soon as the cows are milked they are all off to the shop for a good few beers. Source(s): I live in Poland Other Travel Tips i bets it not the busy there. cause their all bloody here. i was over there 2 years ago, roads are poor quality taffic levels are slightly lower than ours but the lack of major roads means journeys are slow . police are very strict with laws mainly because they take backhanders to up their incomes Hi , the cities are as busy as here, the police usually wait just outside of towns and villages to catch people speeding, you can usually park half on the pavements for a fee. Car theft is common and the more expensive your car the more likely it is to be stolen, Tip ! they dont steal r/hand drive cars. yes the roads are deplorable but not everywhere. whereabouts are you going. ? There are secure parking lots in every town if staying overnight its the best place to park , not expensive either.. the roads arent that bad and traffic is kind of like ours my wifes from poland and she tells me that thiers as many idots there as is here in the us uwaga |
