Which beach/area is best? Is the sea warm enough to swim in in August?

I would recommend Swinoujscie as well. It's got a great long stretch of beach with proper sand. There is quite a bit of night life bars and clubs etc. Don't know much about the accomodation side as I always stay with family who live there, but there are loads of hotels and pensions along the promenade so I'm sure you will be able to find something.

its supposed to be really warm there right now. all of the beaches are in the northern part of the country with the coast on the baltic sea.
sorry not sure about beaches ,but i went to Poland on holiday about 3 years ago , i went to Zakopane , a mountain region , but that doesn't mean snow ,it was early august and temperatures were in the high 80s , its a stunning country , wherever you go to ,i recommend going on a trip to Auschwitz ,i know it may not appeal to everyone but after seeing it for myself , i believe everyone in the world should be made go there ,so no one ever forgets what ever happened there , anyway if you get the chance ,Krakow is a stunning city as well , i guarantee you will love it
I would recommend going to Hel Peninsula (the eastern part of the coast north of Gda艅sk) - Jastarnia, Cha艂upy, Jurata, Hel - especially if you can windsurf. I would avoid big cities, like Szczecin or Gda艅sk. Some very nice beaches are at the open sea side - try small towns like Dar艂owo, Ustka, Ustronie Morskie, Karwia.

About the water temperature it's average is 18-20 degrees C, so it's not very warm compared to some southern seas, but it's quite nice. I swan in the Morze Ba艂tyckie (the Baltic Sea) in August and even in the early September, but it really depend on the overall weather.

Mind you that the "holiday season" ends around mid-September and there are less people then and the prices are lower.

I will recomend you 艣winouj艣cie....the the higest temperature of water and not so many tourists like in Miedzyzdroje! Nice time in Poland:)
