Travel Info If you are choosen to vist the two countires Ukraine OR Poland, where would you go and why? Travel Tips First of all - I am biased as I am from Poland. now on to your question - Poland is better in term of "Slavonic country for beginners" It's good to come here to adapt before going further into the East. But I was in Ukraine and I won't deny it has it''s wonders as well. If you have a hard time deciding though I'd recommend visiting Lviv / Lw贸w. It's mixture of both actually. Though I don't know if it wouldn't be better to spent a few days in Krakow and then a few i Kiev to get a better idea of what the countires are like. Though I'd recomment seeing Lw贸w on the way anyway - it's definitely worth it. Others Poland. Different than CCCP or USSR. i have ben to both i wet to krakow caause of its many attactions and kiev cause it is the capital I'm biased because I'm married to a Pole, but I would choose Poland (even though I haven't seen the Ukraine yet and novelty is almost always appealing). There are still lots of places in Poland I haven't seen that I would like to, the people are friendly and if they don't speak English I found I could often communicate using French or German and the food is fantastic. I don't recommend going in winter though. It's bleak and so cold! poland, there are a lo of interesting things. and you can go visit auschwitz (the concentration camp in case u didnt know) its really interesting and fun. Ukraine absolutely. Visit Lvov in the west, then Kiev the capital (which is one of the most beautiful cities i've ever seen) and then Donetsk in the east. This way you get a taste of the whole country. Learn a little Cyrillic before you go. Having said that, Poland is also great, especially Krakow, but no, I'd go for Ukraine. A good reason is that there is a tiny chance visa restrictions will return to Ukraine so do it now. Definitely Poland! Ukraine has only two cities of any interest to visit: Lvov and Kiev. If you really want to get seriously depressed you can visit the Chernobyl region - if they let you in close enough. Poland has very rich culture, almost every major city is worth visiting for the history, museums art galleries, restaurants, clubs... you name it. People are young and friendly. The amount of fun you will have depends on your interests and budget, it is not as cheap as some people believe. Do not visit in the winter time, not only it is cold, but days are very short - gets dark around 4 pm. As a side note: Poland ruled parts of Ukraine for centuries and they still don't like each other too much. |
