Who was first president of Poland? |
Travel Info Who was first president of Poland? Travel Tips Gabriel Narutowicz - was a president for a week, asasinated (Eligiusz-Niewiadomski- Assasination); In office 9-16 December 1922. the first one to actually have a chance to be a president lang enough to do anything was Stanis艂aw Wojciechowski, 20 December 1922 - 14 May 1926 That was Second Polish Republic (the first Polish Republic was actually a kingdom - what is transladed into English as Republic is actually Rzeczpospolita which is closer in meaning to commonwealth) First Polish president after the war was either W艂adys艂aw Raczkiewicz (in office 1939-1947) or Boles艂aw Bierut (1944-1952). Depends which government London (democratic) or Warsaw (communist) one was recognised. Most countries decided to follow the lead of Britain and USA who on February 1945, after the talks Roosvelt and Churchill had with Stalin recognised the Warsaw one. In the third Polish Republic the first president was Wojciech Jaruzelski. He was selected by parliament though and the first president selected in direct election was Lech Wa艂臋sa. He was also the first Warsaw president recognised by London Government. As a bit of a joke I may add that current president, Lech Kaczy艅ski claims to be the first president of the Fourth Polish Republic. Only his strongest suporters take that seriously though. Others http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/list_of_pol... Hope that helps! Lech Walessa....(SP?) i dunno good question Alexey Valensa http://www.nemtyrev.narod.ru 1. Gabriel Narutowicz (Dec.9-16.1922) 2.
