What is the general, average, or stereotyped opinion of Poland?

Travel Info
Whoever you are, I'd appreciate your opinion on this one. What do you think or know about Poland? I'm there and my friends and I were going to do a survey, but I thought this would be much easier :)

Travel Tips
General: the most beautifull women in the world, hospitality, catholic;
Stereotyped: drunkers, thieves, poor, not independent, almost russia, communism/socialism..
Actually - to see the real heart of Poland, you should come to Cracow. The real tradition, really nice people, developement....

Others
a country still dealing with the transition from communism to socialism.
Do a proper survey anyway, I suggest. It's difficult to answer your question in a concise manner.
I come from Poland.
A country that is still developing. It's in the middle between West and Russian in development. Warsaw is beautiful and rich city. But when you get outside of the city to other cities then you see the real side of people. Try to buy a train ticket in Lublin to Kiev if you're an American. They don't sell train tickets to Americans. You have to go to the train conductor and buy it from him. Luckily I found a interpreter otherwise I would have been stranded.
By the way, they need to get all those bums away from the train stations. It's not a pretty site when you have to step over people to walk around.
I'm ashamed to say that I thought of Poles only what I read in those ridiculous joke books when I was a kid. (This post is for anyone reading it) However, that stuff is NOT true. As a young adult, I ended up moving to the East Coast, dating several Polish men (and they are HOT), then marrying one and going to Poland several times. Poles are hard-working people but they are not stupid. The women are beautiful and the men are handsome (check out Poles like boxer Andrew Golota, bodybuilder Mariusz Pudzianowski or soccer goalie Artur Boruc). They are great people who know how to have a good party: drinking, dancing, etc.
