What is a good area of Portland Oregon that is close to public transportation & inexpensive? |
Travel Info We don't drive. Need something within walking distance to grocery such as Safeway or Albertson's and that preferably does not have snow. Want to retire there. Travel Tips North Portland would be your best bet. Right on the MAX (train) line and close to major grocery stores such as Fred Meyer and New Seasons. Also lots of restaurants and little shops close by. Others Under the Burnside Bridge. You can live with the trolls. Anywhere downtown is Fareless Square and free Definitely somewhere in the city, since you can take the MAX a lot of places. Definitely check out the route the MAX runs on and plan accordingly, also look at bus routes as well. Good lucK! There's a safeway at the corner of 39th & Powell in SE Portland. Lots of bus routes in the area & a good neighborhood. You can connect to the MAX line via bus & get to the airport as well. There's also a Fred Myer less than a mile away. There's also a Trader Joe's & a Walgreen's drugs a few blocks in the opposite direction. |
