Portland Musician Question?

Travel Info
I'm a rock n roll musician and I'm moving to Portland soon. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of places to move that would be good for someone into playing music. Maybe if there is a part of town with lots of basements for practice space... etc. If even one person can help it would be groovy! Peace

Travel Tips
I would look for places in North Portland. Traditionally, this was one of the rougher parts of town, but it's become much cleaner and trendier lately. There are also several music venues around for local artists.

Northeast and Southeast Portland are good too. There will be more houses and rooms for rent than if you look downtown. Portland has a pretty good music scene, so you can probably find musician-friendly rooms or houses pretty easily.

Good luck!

Others
South East near Hawthorne. But as a musician that did the same thing... DONT. If your not getting anywhere where you are, chance are you wont here either. It's not like you hear about from other people or a book. But I did meet my wife here and now have two wonderfull children.
