Portland Oregon Sightseeing?

Im going to be traveling to Portland Oregan next month and would like to know what some of the best sightseeing spots are. I am particularly interested in waterfalls, and ocean views with rocks. Any suggestions? Any other beautiful site will do also. I will only be there for a few days. thanks!

Travel Tips

I agree, Multnomah falls MUST be on your list to see. It's only about 30 minutes EAST of the airport on Highway 84. You'll be driving up "the Gorge" (on Highway 84) to get there. However, if you ask around you should be able to get directions to the "old scenic highway" that will take you along a windy road where you'll see several waterfalls AND have some great views of the Columbia River gorge from Crowne Point. The small highway starts near the town of Troudale (and the Sandy River). After about 30 - 45 minutes of scenic driving on this old highway you'll end up at Multnomah falls. You can hike to the top of the falls if that interests you (and you're in shape). To return to Portland (faster) just hop on Highway 84 and you're back in town in no time at all.

Cannon Beach, Oregon is about 90 minutes WEST of the airport. There is a state park there called, Ecola State Park. It has AMAZING views of the rugged and serene Oregon Coast. The little town of Cannon Beach is also very nice. Lots of shops, art galleries, etc. It is very quaint. Most buidings are very "Cape Cod" in appearance. It's the best of the Oregon Coast. (Washington Coast = mostly boring). Oh yeah, Cannon Beach has Hastack Rock too.

International Rose Test Garden @ Washington Park
Crater Lake. Not much else.
Downtown: 23rd ave. Pioneer courthouse square. There is the rose garden at Washington Park. OMSI has the Star Wars exhibit until Jan. 1st. There is Cannon Beach, Multnomah Falls, Tillamook (gotta do the cheese factory tour), The air museum in Mcminville. Everything You can think of. Google Portland and most of the info will come up.
