Is it rare or common to see the Northern Lights in Oregon? |
Travel Info I'm moving to Bend and wondering if there are times when the Aurora Borealis comes down that far. Travel Tips Rare... as in very very very rare. Can't even see it from lower British Columbia, but in northern BC you can. Tried to see it while in Calgary too, and was not able too, though some have said at times it's possible, not often though .. and that is considerably further north than Oregon. This is just fropm my own experience and conversation with others ... but I lived in Oregon 45 years, and am a photographer, so I have often watched the night sky for various reasons. Others I have not heard that check out this site you had me intrigged look at this I think this means it is rare. http://unsolvedmysteries.com/usm103206.h... everyonce in awhile hardly ever tho my dad used to live in alaska so he knows what it looks like so he has seen it a couple times ive only seen it once tho. but u have to make sure that its not overcast...which it usualy is. Rare. I've lived up here for 12 years and never saw them. I was in Alaska for two summers and saw them only twice. OMFG ! Rare... you almost need to be in Canada to see these. Bend might have more of a chance because of their cold winters. Oregon is high desert over there. In the Willamette (wil-AM-ette) valley the last time I know of was when I was a kid.... maybe 30 years ago... yea right! love an oregonain |
