Where on the Oregon Coast is the best place to spend 4 days in December? |
Travel Info going there to storm watch, relax, eat, drink, relax some more, im thinking Cannon Beach or Manzanita Travel Tips Cannon Beach is amazing, quaint, beautiful and one of my favorite coastal towns in Oregon. There are many options within walking distance of downtown. Ecola State Park is also nearby. You can find reasonable rates at several hotels. The Ecola Creek Lodge is nice & is a couple of blocks from downtown. They have apartments and small studios... even rabbits that run around near their fish pond/garden area. It's right "in the middle" re: other Cannon Beach hotels. (You have expensive ones and you have ones that are a bit cheaper). The Cannon Beach Hotel is also very nice. It is closer to midtown.(1 mile from downtown). I really like their lobby & room decor. JP's restaurant is awesome. I also like Gower Street Bistro, located within the Cannon Beach Hotel. There are a few bars that stay open later for drinks (Lumberyard, Driftwood, Doogers, Wayfarer, etc). Do your grocery shopping in Seaside vs. in Cannon Beach. Cannon Beach's local grocer is expensive and they often don't have prices on their items. Dooger's Restaurant offers a happy hour from 4:30pm to 6pm every day... and their menu items (hamburgers, fish/chips, calamari, clam chowder) is only $2.50 during that time. That's in their upstairs lounge. Manzanita is also awesome, albeit a much slower pace. It is not far from Cannon Beach and Seaside. So, if you want to "escape from it all" go to Manzanita and then drive up to Cannon Beach and Seaside when you want to shop, see Ecola State Park, etc. To be honest, however, I haven't ever stayed at a Manzanita hotel. Their restaurants seem nice, but have rarely wowed me. If I owned a vacation home I'd seriously consider Manzanita because I like the slower pace. However, for a brief 1 - 2 night vacation I very much like Cannon Beach. For 3 - 4 days I'd have a difficult time deciding between the two. Source(s): I've been to Cannon Beach and Manzanita many times over the past 10 years. www.tripadvisor.com www.cannonbeachlodge.com Other Travel Tips I was going to suggest "Mexico" but it sounds like you're going because you know the weather is stormy that time of year. Actually, it sounds like YOU should be answering questions like this, not asking them... Cannon Beach has a lot of tourist and things to do. I go there alot to have fun. We have a beach cabin in Oceanside Oregon. It is a really nice place to relax. They only have one restraunt, and three hotels. It is close to Tillamook if you want to go shop around.
