i live in beaverton , OR which is basically in the portland area. well my phone contract is gonna end in december and im thinking of switching companies, which phone company would be best here?????

Can you get Comcast in your area? If so... we just cancelled with Verizon and AT&T and upgraded to a Comcast digital package. $33/month for UNLIMITED calling in the continental US. In essence... every number is an 800 number for us. We also upgraded to cable internet (for the extra $10 I went with 8Mbps over the standard 6, but I work from home when I'm not doing Yahoo Answers...) and kept our existing cable lineup.

I'm saving, all told, about a hundred bucks a month over my old phone, DSL, and long-distance package. Every so often life is good. :-) Oh, and I'm in Tualatin, just down the 217 from you, so you SHOULD be able to get Comcast -- heck, that's where the main office is, isn't it?

...Oh. I just automatically assumed you meant land-line phone. If you meant cell phone, I'm very satisfied with T-Mobile. Great coverage up and down the I-5 corridor to California (I travel to San Francisco regularly on business), but I have good coverage way the heck out in the middle of nowhere, too. I drive all OVER the western half of the state (I do road rallies and volunteer on stage rallies, hence the avatar pic), and many times I've been the only one in the group to have cell coverage. Very important if you're somewhere between Vernonia and Timber and there's a car upside-down on the transit road... even if it isn't your own car. :-)
