Portland Oregon to Seattle Washington?? |
Travel Info How long does it take to drive from Portland Oregon to Seattle Washington?? And what is the best route to take?? THANKS! Travel Tips It depends on how fast you drive... if you're a little speedy (like me) and don't mind a little bit of pushing the limits, it can be accomplished in 2.5 - 3 hours. If you're one who strictly likes to stick to the speed limit +/- 5mph, you're looking at 3 - 3.5. The biggest variable is traffic. It's going to take you a lot longer on a saturday or sunday than a weekday. I've found that my favorite time to drive is leaving portland at about 9pm... but that's just me. As to the best route - as long as you're not driving from the extreme west side (beaverton/hillsboro) going up I-205 instead of I-5 is a HUGE timesaver. Especially if you're in SE or NE. Just take I-84 to I-205 North... it'll save you at least 20-30 minutes over slogging through I-5 construction. Source(s): Much personal experience... I do contract work down here in portland, and live here the majority of the time... but I'm in Seattle at least once every other week. Other Travel Tips We are in Albany (20 min. South of Salem) And we go to tacoma a lot and it takes us 3 1/2 hours with stops. So I would guess because you are going further but you are closer then us. I would be close to the same time. And we take 205. I live in Portland Oregon. It takes about 3 1/2 hours to get to Seattle. I-5 North is a straight shot and the best way to go. take i 5, and it will take about 4 hours. but if you really want to go somewhere great take the ferry to victoria b.c. from port angles. Even if you aren't speedy, it shouldn't take more than 3 hours. However, going north from Portland during rush hour will really slow you down, as will hitting Tacoma (about 2.5 hours into your trip) after 3pm. I'd suggest leaving Portland either mid-morning or after rush hour. The best route is I-5 the whole way. If you need directions to I-5 or from I-5 to your destination, I'd use maps.yahoo.com/dd |
