Why is Portland Oregon the best place to live? |
Travel Info Keep in mind I know why P-town is so hot so keep it pithy!!! Travel Tips I'll tell you why Pdx rules. Second run theaters (you know 'em), Stumptown (best coffee in the us? the world?), Mississippi St, Hawthorne/Belmont, NW 21/23, Alberta St, The Pearl...know what I'm sayin? First Thursday/Last Thursday, Forest Park, Laurelhurst Park, dogs, cats, trees, green, green. Bikes, brews, boys, babes. Music, art, theatre, and crazies. Oh...and the best reason...people like some of those who've already responded to this question - DON'T LIVE HERE!! word. Others It's not! Portland stinks and there are too many liberals there. That city does NOT represent the real Oregon. The southern part of the state is a much better area overall and you can get a more realistic picture of what Oregon's really about. See BlueJulie's response below, also (which will give you an indication of what goes on there). I wish that when people hear "Oregon" that they don't think "Portland." 19 year resident of the state and frequent traveler throughout. Because New Jersey is such a shi**y place to live! its not Gateshead is. because they have great coffee and sandwiches, duh. Well, to put it delicately rather than "pithily," it's become very popular with the gay community. Multnomah County became the second place in the country, after San Francisco, to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, even though it was repealed in a month. The city commissioner is openly gay. The Portland Oregon Visitor's Association has a prominent link to "Gay Portland" on its' website. Portland is the most "gay friendly," place to live - hence its current popularity. |
