How do i become a resident of Oregon?

Travel Info
For cheaper tuition! I'm moving there with my boyfriend.

Travel Tips
If you move there, you are a resident. You should register your car there if you have one, get an Oregon driver's license, register to vote there, get your name on the lease, and generally do all the things you would do if you were moving there without a boyfriend.

Even so, there may be a waiting period before you are entitled to in-state tuition rates. Talk with the college about that. Some states let you have in-state rates in just a few months, but others require a full year of residence. Good luck!!

Move there; get a drivers license
How about getting a permanent address and an official state drivers license/ID card?
You need to live there for a specific amount of time before the state can declare you a resident. Check with the state of Oregon's govt website to see what their requirements are. Simple moving there and living a few months does not make you a resident of the state. You need to establish permanent residency there to be declared a resident.
Be sure to emancipate yourself from your current state. Some states (like New York) still consider you a state resident if you have certain ties to that state (i.e., property). This can lead to rejection of state aid or other benefits. It can also lead to issues on your state income taxes.

Contact the school for help on this. They go through this all the time and they will probably be able to give you exact information.

In general, get an Oregon address, driver's license, and open an Oregon bank account to firmly establish your residence. Also, terminate your old resident (i.e., forward mail, etc.). On you next income tax, make sure to report the Oregon residence as your new tax situs.

If you have custody of children from a divorce situation, you may not be allowed to change state residence without risking loss of custody.
Move here.
In order to start the process of becoming a resident you must move here and get a drivers license right away. Once you have lived here for 6 months (I am pretty sure it's 6 months) then you are a resident. If you are coming from California, Washington, or Idaho, then you already get Oregon resident tuition.

Hope this helps
