Hi, I live in Portland Oregon looking for something fun and new to do with family for the day, any ideas? |
Travel Info I have two boys there ages are 5 & 2 a wife and mother in-law Travel Tips The zoo is good and usually a hit with kids, OMSI is also great for Kids and indoors. Go up to Government Camp by Mt Hood and there is a great sledding area but there. Also, there are many community centers around town (depending on where you live) with great indoor pools (check out the Southwest community center for example). In the summer time, the Japanese Garden and Chinese Garden are both really interesting, although more for adults than kids 2 and 5. Others BOARD GAMES, SLEDDING, SKIING, ICE SKATING, GOING TO THE MOVIES, GO TO THE ZOO, PLANETARIUM. I have an old friend that lives there and when I visited we went to an outstanding japanese garden then looked at architecture along the newly remodeled industrial sectin then went for a great drive along the columbia river and saw some of what Lewis and Clark saw might try anyone of those hell do them all and take lots of fun comfort food along Try a game of bumper bowling for a rainy day. Young children can do it and adults can also have fun doing it. It's a great thing to do if you can't make it outside. For an outdoor activity try a family bike ride. If you live in a nice area, a bike ride on a local trail will be the perfect fun filled day. It is something fun and healthy that everyone can enjoy. I recommend you pick up a copy of "Fugitives and Refugees: A Walk in Portland, Oregon" by Chuck Palahniuk. "Here are strange personal museums, weird annual events, and ghost stories. Tour the tunnels under downtown Portland. Visit swingers鈥?sex clubs, gay and straight. See Frances Gabe鈥檚 famous 1940s Self-Cleaning House. Look into strange local customs like the I-Tit-a-Rod Race and the Santa Rampage. Learn how to talk like a local in a quick vocabulary lesson. Get to know, I mean really get to know, the animals at the Portland zoo." OMSI, forestry museum, the zoo (if you feed the lorikeets watch the little boogers flying over you I know someone that got poo poo on their head one time hee hee) Pop up in Vancouver tour the fort the air museum officers row go for a walk on one of the hundreds of trails around here drive over to Multinoma falls umm Mt. st. Helen's tons to do around here. Find a tourist info office pick up some brochures if you like to drive go up the Columbia river to the falls and Bonneville dam |
