Travel Info What are the good points and the bad points of living in oregon and what is the most desirable part or city? Travel Tips The good points of living in Oregon: it's absolutely gorgeous! The natural beauty is amazing. There is easy access to both beaches, mountains, and fairly large cities. You can also find just about any environment you want within the state. The only real bad part is that the weather can make you crazy if you come from, and love, a sunnier climate. I like the rain, but I'm often alone in that. The most desirable part of the state depends on what you're looking for. If you like a big city (well, big by Oregon standards) with a liberal mindset, Portland is really the best place to be. Eugene and Corvallis are both college towns, so they're smaller than Portland, but still pretty liberal. They're also cheaper, but I think it's worth whatever money to live in Portland. The farther away from Portland you get, the more conservative and rural the towns become. If that's what you're looking for, Bend, LaGrande, and Ashland are all cool towns. Ashland especially is a very cool little town about 20 miles from the California border. It's also a college town, but they host a lot of live theater including a Shakespeare festival every year. I love going down there. Overall, Oregonians are pretty environmentally conscious and reasonable. If you love the outdoors, you could pretty much be happy anywhere. Others Let's see..you are an hour from the ocean and an hour from the mountains. What could be better? Real estate is high. Most desirable part of city is probably NW. It's being revitalized but the real estate is quite pricey. the good things is its a small city so everything is close by and it has good public transportation the bad things is it is overpriced for what the city really is worth and then it rains alot and really bad employment alot of unemployed people thats why I left the area after being born and raised there. I find more bad points then positive points. |
