Anyone in Portland from Southern California? |
Travel Info Hey, I am moving out to Portland from Orange County, Ca. I was wondering if there are any others from OC in that area and how you like it. Im super stoked to get out there and start a new life, and the rent IS almost free there compared to what im paying in Newport Beach. But, just wondering what the vibe was liek up there and if they are friendly towards Cali people moving up there... Take care! Travel Tips I'm moving to Portland in early March, but right now I live in Selma (Fresno area). But I heard that people in Oregon and Washington don't like Californians because we move up there and buy all their land. We'll have to wait and see.... Hey "citygirl": You just hate Californians because we're so hot and beautiful! Get a life and get a tan! Others I'm still in LA, but Portland is one of the places we're considering moving one day. Every time I've been there, I've loved it. The Pacific Northwest is beautiful, if you don't mind a little rain. Boy are you in for a BIG SHOCK of your life!!! DO NOT ADVERTISE THAT YOU ARE FROM CALIFORNIA! Portlanders especially hate Californians. As soon as you get there you need to remove your california plates from your car ASAP! And replace them with Oregon plates. Your car will be vandalized. I am not even kidding. If anyone asks where your from. Just lie and say you are from Portland. If they ask what HS you went to find out what H.S. are out there. Say "Portland High" for example. But make sure that High School name even exists. Remember DO NOT TELL ANYONE YOU ARE FROM CALIFORNIA! I repeat DO NOT TELL ANYONE THERE THAT YOU ARE FROM CALIFORNIA! News, Personal experience yeah dude c`mon we`re waiting to hear how bad you were...."tough" guy ... you all have the same stories....yo,yo,yo.... don`t take the "low rider" w you Well, we just moved to Portland last October from the Central Valley in California, and all I can say is.........we have met nothing but nice and polite people up here !!!!!!!!! As far as the license plates......we still have the old ones on the car, and whenever we stop to look at something, people come over and ask if we need some help, info, directions etc. So..........as long as you don't act and behave like a total jerk, it's just fine. We LOVE it here and hope you will too ! Good luck !!!!! Been there, done that ! |
