In SOUTH OREGON,,,,how cold does it get in the winter? does it snow alot? |
Travel Info I do love rain, though, but I am so cold where I am now, I would like to be warm....... Travel Tips I live in a small town on the Oregon coast about 7 miles north of the California border. We get about 70 inches of rain per year, but the temperatures are moderate with snow in the winter months above the 2,000' elevation. Our average temperature in the winter is about 55 and in the summer about 65. If you go inland, they do get some snow (Medford, Grants Pass, Ashland), but for the most part they get rain in the winter. If you like the ocean, the southern coast is wonderful. If you like vineyards and orchards, then the Medford area is the best. People are nice and friendly, and most of us moved to Oregon to get away from snow, the city, etc. Hope this helps you a little. Others I have lived here all my life, and the coldest it has gotten is 26 degrees, and that was a freak storm. Typically, it does not get so cold, however, we do get snow once in a while, but that is for only the higher elevation. Once in a blue moon, we might get 3 inches of snow, but that is it. This year has been rather proactive. In the summer, it is hot and sticky. Really, because most of SO is in a valley, meaning that heat just bears down on you. Hey, Southern Oregon is still a great place to be. I love it. It does snow in Southern Oregon. Where specifically are you looking at? It snows more in the south eastern part of the state such as Klamath Falls. Snow in areas like Medford is less. It does get cold, it doesnt rain as much as Northern Or and it doesnt snow much.....It;s a beautiful place . East of the cascades is dryer and colder west is a little warmer but wetter... My in-laws live in Medford, Or. |
