Oregonians: How is the Weather year round? |
Travel Info I am moving to oregon and am looking to move in the Eugene, Bend area- but not certain. I heard half the state gets alot of rain while the other side is mostly sunny. Thanks for any help you can give. Travel Tips We have alot of liquid sunshine. If you dont like the rain, dont move to the NW! I love it but Im a native so it doesnt bother me. Less rain in Southern Oregon...ie Medford area. Others I moved to the Portland area (Beaverton) from California about five years ago, for one reason I like the change of seasons and a nice, cold rainy day once in a while. This past winter was unusually wet and even had a couple of snowfalls of about 3-4 inches....nice. Summertime it gets pretty hot at certain points...a few days in a row of temps over 100 are not unusual at all. Right now, the weather is starting to change into springtime...temps that were in the 40's and 50's a couple of weeks ago are seeing more 60 degree days. (although, beginning tomorrow Monday, rain is expected and temps in the 50's with showers off and on for the next week or so) By May the temps will be pushing 80. You'll be living in about the center of the State and won't be getting as much wet weather as me and you'll be a bit warmer overall as well. So, basically, the closer you get to Washington State the more rain and cooler weather you'll see. (many times the bottom of the "Low" pressure system bringing rain is right over me so, as you go further south the weather is more clear and dry) Map of Oregon: http://www.chl.chalmers.se/~numa/oregon/... As an Oregonian, be ready for: 1) NO Sales tax 2) by law you cannot pump your own gas (attendant's will) and no, you don't have to tip them. Here鈥檚 a word to the wise; if you don鈥檛 like the weather in Bend, Oregon, wait five minutes. Located in the Central Oregon High Desert, you鈥檒l enjoy warm summers with low humidity. The Cascade Mountain peaks do an excellent job breaking up the clouds flowing from the Oregon coast, making sure that they capture every snowflake available for winter sports enthusiasts. Mild winters and summers make Bend, Oregon a comfortable decision for vacation plans. Eugene's climate is mild, at an average temperature of 53 degrees F and with an annual rainfall of 43 inches. Summers are quite dry and warm. Actually the Eugene area gets less rain in the summer than just about any other area of the US except for the desert southwest. Bend is indeed drier (..it's over on what we call the "dry side of the mountains"...) Summers are very warm and dry, with many days in the 100 and over range. Winters are very cold, with frequent moderate snowfall, along with freezing rain. I am sorry but oregon weather SUCKS!!!! It doesnt get that hot and rains like atleast 5 times each month no matter the year. |
