Maine ....?

Travel Info
I am looking to vacation in Maine in August. Anyone with suggestions on which places on the ocean are worth visiting?

Travel Tips
Old Orchard Beach is also a nice place to visit, and of course the Waterfront in Portland. There is a nice restaurant you can eat at that is actually a big yacht that floats in the water. The name escapes me, but it's easy to find once you're there. Also, you can go here for more information : http://www.visitmaine.com

I love Bangor, Maine. It is very beautiful. There are many lighthouses to go visit. The national parks there are exquisite. And I'd go on a whale-watching boat. They not only can show you whales but also seals. The whale-watching is probably one of the most amazing things you will ever see. Have fun!
I live in Bangor, Maine. There are no lighthouses, national parks, or whale watching in Bangor. Bangor is about an hour to an hour and a half away from the coast. I have lived in Maine all my life, and for three consecutive summers I lived and worked on the coast in three incredible tourist towns on the Maine Coast- all on Mt. Desert Island. Bar Harbor is one of those towns. Stonington is nice too. In Southern Maine, Portland is nice, but is pretty busy... the largest city we have. It's not really a vacation-y spot. Of all the coastal areas I've visited, Mt. Desert Island is the nicest. There are cute shops all over the island, a beautiful National Park called Acadia, whale watching trips, and the sightseeing is amazing. Cant wait to have you come see what Maine has to offer!

Sorry to whoever was talking about bangor and national parks, but Maine has ONE national park and it isn't in Bangor---also, what lighthouses do you speak of?
o yeah, and bangor isn't very close to the coast at all
I might be going there to the annual Rockland lobster festival look at the bottom of the map in the link and you will find Rockland.Such a coincidence since I might be going to maine in august too. you could also go to kittery or bar harbor and to the person who said Bangor has lighthouses that is not true.look at the map and u can cleary see that bangor does NOT border the ocean
