Travel Info I'm going to Portland, OR in July and I'm looking to find a hotel with in walking distance to the Portland Memorial Coliseum, The Rose Quarter. I have business meetings there and do not want to rent a car I want to be able to walk there. Please list the hotels with in walking distance. Thanks! Travel Tips Hello. Since you are not renting a car, I presume you will be taking the MAX red line train from the airport to the rose quarter. Well, if this is the case, you can stay on the red line until just over the bridge and into downtown Portland. It is a much nicer area and will guarantee better service, nicer evening walks, and a much better environment than the Lloyd Center/ Convention Center area. Trust me on this one. You can take the train for free to the Convention Center each morning, since both the CC and downtown are in the "Fair-less Square." . You can look up the address and telephone on their website. I would say the nicest place close to the Rose Quarter is the Courtyard Inn - about 3 blocks away. Fairly new and very nice. However if it was me, I'd stay downtown and take the MAX light rail for free across the river. It's about a 5 minute ride. (You can also take MAX to and from the airport for free as well as long as you have your plane ticket with you.) You have a lot more options, FAR more restaurants and things to do and I'd rather stay downtown than near the Rose Quarter at night. A lot safer as well. Embassy Suites downtown is a great place to stay and close to the MAX and 2 stops from the Rose Quarter. I would recommend the Doubletree Inn near Lloyd Center (a shopping mall). It has good restaurants and all the amenities. It's about a 10 minute walk to the Rose Garden, or you can take MAX the few blocks to the Rose Quarter stop. http://www.doubletree.com/en/dt/hotels/i... As another answerer suggested, you could stay downtown. There are many nice hotels there and MAX makes it easy to go to and fro. Any hotels within walking distance are in a bad part of town. I would NOT recommend walking too far. The Rose Quarter itself is very nice but it is located in North Portland that is filled with gang activity....Find a hotel out of "North" Portland and spend a few bucks on a cab....TRUST ME...
