Travel Tips
North coast you may find small amounts of snow, but very cool summers. The Willamette Valley is also beautiful- mild summers, minimal if any humidity, occasional light snow in the winter if you are south of Portland. Many small towns to explore in this area. Central Willamette Valley is beautiful, can be out of the city atmosphere and have a reasonable drive to Portland, the coast or the mountains!

Also- Crater Lake is not man made... But a must see sight- amazing! The lake was formed after the collapse of an ancient volcano, posthumously named Mount Mazama. This volcano violently erupted approximately 7,700 years ago. That eruption was 42 times as powerful as the 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens. The basin or caldera was formed after the top 5,000 feet of the volcano collapsed. Subsequent lava flows sealed the bottom, allowing the caldera to fill with approximately 4.6 trillion gallons of water from rainfall and snow melt, to create the seventh deepest lake in the world at 1,932 feet.

Roseburg Oregon is perfect for you then. we have cooler summers and a bit of snow in the winter. there are 21190 people here at present, and there is the beautiful Upqua river that runs through the town. there is no gangs and littleviolence.
Oregon is loaded with quaint small towns. The climate varies by elevation and distance from the ocean. The coast allot of rain and fog very little snow and cool summers. The east side can have very little rain and snow and hot summers. Based upon your preference, I would recommend Redmond or Prineville because Bend has mushroomed into a city and is no longer the small town I remember. These towns are located in Central Oregon where you escape the heavy rains on the west side and escape the heat of the East Columbia River Valley. Also Klamath Falls and Chiloquin are very nice.
