Hi! I'd like an honest answer.....Is it true that Oregon is a racist state? |
Travel Info How are Blacks treated/viewed there? I keep hearing that it is a very racist state is this true or an awful rumor? Please only serious responses! Travel Tips Well now, many good and bad answeres so far. Portland is a pretty friendly place, and beautiful. It is most like anywhere you go, some good, some not as good. Over all, I think its very friendly. Eastern Oregon may have a few more radical fools, but for the most part, it is a lt more mellow than most places. As the lady said earlier, a box of crayons. I've been here over 40 years, and would be happy to have a nice neighbor, one that just treats me as I would like to be treated. Most of us (in the sticks) feel the same way. And for the young lady that was treated rude, it was not ME! As you can see by the many answeres, thats what you can find in some places, some good some not. I love this state, and find it very friendly. I think my ID has my contact address, give me a shout. Source(s): Many years of living in Oregon. Other Travel Tips I have never heard that. Granted, I am not from Oregon, but usually you hear that about Southern states more. I didn't realize they had any black people, they have 1.8 % black people in the last census, I doubt if its racism its just more noticed if any racial incident happens http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/... I don't know about racist, but the one and only time I've been there the people were kinda rude. Maybe it was bad luck; I don't want to put down the whole state, but like I said, everyone I encountered there was rude. There are a lot of white supremacist groups there. |
