Travel Info Moving to Portland from Hawaii w/ family of six where is a good neighborhood to move to in the hillsboro area? Travel Tips Rock Creek is a great area of Hillsboro. Lennox Elementary School is in walking distance of a lot of the houses and Safeway is only 1/2 mile away. There is also a great shopping center about 2 miles away. My family has lived there my whole life (I'm 27). Others You can live anywhere in the Portland area and you will love it. There are no "bad" neighborhoods around Portland. The cost of living will be a lot less than Hawaii. I moved to oregon from hawaii 11 years ago and I can tell you that the best place to live in the hillboro area is tanasbourne area it is a newer development and very nice close to everything, if you are looking to move into an apartment I suggest rock creek landing or thorncroft they are the two nicest and affordable I've lived in both but if you are looking for a house the tanasbourne/ bethany area is the best and very affordable anything off of 185th is affordable and nice very convenient too. I would stay out of downtown hillsboro its cheap but run down. Anyway I hope this helps ~Aloha~ There are bad neighborhoods in Portland, Stay away from the Jefferson High School area and Union and Killingsworth. Also there are Asian and Mexican gangs around 82nd and Powell. Hillsboro is OK but Forest Grove and Newberg are better. ME- Graduate of Benson Tech Portland OR |
