Which is a better area of Portland, OR to stay in; Gresham Northwest or Vancouver, WA?

Travel Info
I will be working in the Portland, OR area for the next three weeks and need to get a hotel. I am choosing between two Extended Stay America hotels, one in Gresham Northwest and the other in Vancouver, WA. Any advice on which one is a nicer area to stay in, will have the least traffic issues, etc...
Thanks! =)

Travel Tips
As far as locale, the Vancouver facility has more going for it. There are quite a few restaurants and stores nearby. Head east on Mill Plain toward 164th for more and better restaurants than the area around the hotel.

It's easier from and to the airport to Vancouver if that matters.

In both cases (assuming you're going toward downtown Portland at the same time as everyone else), you'll have to deal with traffic. The Gresham location would be slightly better for lower traffic volume, and no bridge to cross.

I would still give Vancouver the nod.
Others
Neither. Both of those areas are not good. If you can, stay on the west side. If I absolutely had to choose, I would say Vancouver.
When we relocated to Portland, OR, we stayed at the Park Lane Suites on King Street.....which is very close to downtown. It's suitable for an extended stay because you can get a livingroom, bedroom and full kitchen there. It's not that expensive either. Lots of shops nearby (within walking distance), busstop around the corner etc. Plus it is quiet there, since the hotel is in an residential area.. Check it out, they have a website. Good luck !
Been there, done that !
Vancouver is not a part of portland. I live just north of Gresham, in Fairview, there's nothing wrong w/Gresham. If anything, I would base my decision on which state has the lower tax rate on hotels....
Because of the commute, I would stay in Gresham. The interstate can be a real tough one. It is a tough call. For just three weeks, the commute is your key. I hope you do enjoy your stay, and come back to a great place, either Portland or Vancouver.
Somewhat depends on where you are going to be working, but if you are working on the Oregon side of the river, I would go with Gresham. Gresham itself doesn't have much going on, but your commute would probably be better. Also, if you want to enjoy nightlife, restaurants, etc. there is lots to do on the East Side of Portland - relatively short drive from Gresham. Vancouver is suburban and bland (no offense to those who live there).
