What is the NE part of Portland, OR. like? I may go there and stay on 52nd St. NE and I'd like to have a sense

That's a great neigborhood. That area around Freemont is known as Beaumont and has lots of little shops and restaurnats between 42nd and 50th or so. 52nd is just outside the 'official' beaumont neighborhood, but it's very nice there. 52nd and what exactly? 52nd and sandy is beautiful older homes. up above the hollywood district. which i love and have lived and worked. it's a very community feeling place. if you do end up living up there the best places to eat are pho oregon and du's omg, du's is the bestest teriyaki ever. it's an institution everyone who lives there eats there.
It's a nice area, working class homes that are pretty well kept, really there'snot too bad an area in portland to kick it...it's not like Kansas City Kansas, ppl are just too 420 friendly here to really fight much...and the summers aren't so stupid hot like other areas of the country, so tempers don't flare as bad...
You have to be careful in this area. A few blocks are great. Old homes with pristine yards and very nice, just down the street is a total mess. I could never figure that one out.....be sure to go there and check it out before you make a final decision! Oh and Du's has great teriaki chicken and Staniches has the BEST burgers:o)
I live on 28th in NE. I moved here from the East side of Portland. I absolutely love it here. Your close to Downtown, lots of shopping, good food, like msg420 said lots of 420 happy people around here real mellow. You should give it a try it lots of fun!
If you are in Laurelhurst or Hollywood neigborhoods, they rock. Lots of nice homes and many restaurants and winebars near by. You should definitely check out NE 28th Ave. Between Sandy and Burnside. Great restaurants there.
