Best and safest place to live around salem Oregon? |
Travel Info My husband is thinking about taking a job in salem. We are in AL right know so we cant really check out the neighborhoods first. We have 3 kids so we need to find a low crime area with decent schools. My husband is willing to drive 30 minutes or so to work. Is the NE side of town okay, that is where all the nice apartments seem to be but I dont want to end up in a place with gangs or something. Please help! Thanks ps what about beaverton or tualtin? Travel Tips I grew up in the Aumsville area - a rural, pastoral, community of small towns 15min east of Salem in the Hwy 22 corridor. The high school districts are Cascade, Stayton, and Jefferson. Any of the communities SE of Salem are decent farming communities with a good mix of Salem commuters and local industrial workers. There is a large manufactured housing industry in this region, in addition to corn, beans, and berry farms. I think you will find that gang activity is very low by comparison to other more urban areas. Check out Aumsville, Turner, Jefferson, Stayton, Scio, and Sublimity. Source(s): I grew up there. Other Travel Tips Tualatin has bad rush hour traffic, but you're closer to Salem than Beaverton is by about 15 min. and is a very safe place for kids. I don't know about Salem at all. (Ask me about Portland.) Wilsonville is between Portland and Salem, and is also nice. Kaiser is just to the north of Salem and may be an option, Silverton is an option, Mt Angel, Sublimity, etc. these are more rural towns that surround the Salem area. Quaint and quiet. live in Portland The best part of Salem to live in is South Salem. South Salem, Sprague and West Salem Highschools are the best. Mckay and North Salem are not as good. West Salem or South. There are some nice places to live in NE but the schools are not that great. My mother in law teaches at Adem Stephens and tell some scary stories. So, my advice south or west Salem. Beaverton is nicer than Salem! |
