Travel Info Which area of portugal has the most ex pats? Travel Tips Hi! The Algarve has many people from many different european countries living there. Many people retire and go live there. Another place is the Madeira Island. To find out more, please go...look...XEK out my blog! http://experienceportugal.blogspot.com/... Source(s): http://experienceportugal.blogspot.com/... Other Travel Tips I'd guess Albefeira or other resorts along the Algarve. There are two main concentrations of British expats in Portugal. Obviously the Algarve is choc-a-block full of sunseekers and Daily Mail-reading retirees - Dutch and Germans as well as British - maily concentrated around Albufeira and similar resorts in the central strip. The coast to the west of Lisbon also has a large British expat community, concentrated in the towns of Estoril and Cascais, where they have churches, schools, pubs and shops - and plenty of newsagents stocking the Daily Mail. In Lisbon itself there are expats of all nationalities, as you would expect in a fairly large capital city. The Southwestern coast around Aljezur is also full of foreigners - mainly free-living "alternative" Dutch and Germans who ride horses and go around looking like they own the place (the brits usually look like they're on an extended holiday). I live in Lisbon and know! |
