Travel Info If a person only gets paid four euros approx an hour does this mean the cost of food etc in portugl is low? Travel Tips The cost of living in Portugal is fairly low in comparison to other EU countries but it varies a lot depending on where you're living- Lisbon and the Algarve are more expensive than the other parts of the country. Four euros an hour is low- you need to think about how much you're likely to spend on rent (in the Algarve we pay 400 euros a month for a nice one bedroom flat), transport, social security payments (180 euros a month but there are exceptions) etc. On that salary you could scrape by but you wouldn't have much spending money at all unless you're going somwhere very rural or have acccommodation thrown in. What type of job are you thinking of doing- some sample salaries in the Algarve- cleaner from 6 euros an hour, teacher 14 euros etc. good luck! Source(s): personal experience Other Travel Tips Probably - the cost of living overall in Portugal is lower than the UK or Ireland. 4 euros = 5,3 us dollars Depending of his/her skills this is a basic payment... No. It means that they have no qualifications,no future and are low paid workers. Been there. If you are paid 4鈧?hour, and work the normal 8 hours/day, you get aprox. 700鈧?month, which is more that than minimum wage (430鈧?month), but still you will have to live on a budget. In a month, a couple can spend about 250鈧?in food, if you don't spend it on expensive brands. |
