How do you pronounce "forcados" in Portuguese bullfighting? |
Travel Info I just thought that if the c is to make an "s" sound, it should be "莽". Anyways, I just want to pronounce it correctly for a presentation I'm giving for a class. Travel Tips Let's clear this up: Say - FOR-CA-DU (Stress the CA) This is the correct Portuguese pronunciation. Others what is Portuguese bullfighting I'm in Mazatlan and recently had the pleasure of seeing my friend who is a forcado in action...In Mexico it's pronounced for caaa doe...Hope this helps... definitely for kaaa doe It depends: forCAdo is For Ka do for脟Ado is for SA do You are right: In portuguese 脟 sounds like S, if its forCado, the pronunciation will be forKado Modified 1 year ago In Portuguese, when "C" is placed before "e" and "i" within a word, it sounds very close to "S". It also has a similar value to "s" when it has a cedilla underneath: "脟/莽". Therefore, in "Forcado" (singular)/"forcados" (plural)", it sounds like the "c" in "cat" or "car". I think "foorkadoo/sh" (go easy on the "sh" sound!) will be a close "phonetic" transcription. Anyway, since we are at it, "for脟ados" has an entirely different meaning: literally, it means "forced" and it has four different forms in Portuguese. Masculine form: For莽ado (Singular) / For莽ados (Plural); Feminine form: For莽ada (Singular) / For莽adas (Plural). Hope this helps! Good luck with your presentation! |
