Travel Info hi..rather than just say NO to get points... if you have been here to this area can you tell me what it's like and what like the restaurants/bars are etc...prices??? did you happen to come across a karaoke bar? if you've been what time of year was this at? Also if you happen to know anything about the Alcazer Hotel, please tell me anything you can...thank you for your help, in advance xx Travel Tips I suggest you visit http://www.globosapiens.net/travel-infor... and http://www.travel-library.com/hotels/eur... to get some information you want. Others yeah! Been there. both on my own and with my family. Don't remember all the names but it really is a great place. I went there in june so it was nice and warm. Monte gordo has the best of the algarve without the hassle of too many turists. Enjoy. I went to Monte Gordo with my family. I liked it very much because it's not as busy and comercialised as Albufeira and other parts of the Algarve. We ddin't stay at a hotel. We rented rooms in a private home. My husband got the accomodation by asking at a local cafe. (Speaking Portuguese did help). It was quite cheap and clean. We didn't get to go the casino as I didn't have a babysitter. We drove as far as Vila Real de Santo Antonio and then took a boat into Spain for lunch. We didn't eat at beachfront resturants as they were quite dear. We hired a car and travelled inalnd and ate where the locals ate. We all thouroughly enjoyed our holiday. The beach was lovely and the weather wonderful. Sorry I can't help you about that particular hotel. Enjoy your stay. I went there many times during the summer, it's one of the best beaches in Algarve, you have lots of sand to walk on, and the water is warm because it's close to the Mediterranean. I don't know how is it during the winter, but I'm guessing it's very quiet, some bars only open during summertime... Maybe during weekend you can find some bars open, there is a nice karaoke bar in the Guadiana apart hotel, but i don't know if it's open now... I never been to the Alcazar Hotel, but i know it has a good location, less than 5min walking to the beach. Monte Gordo itself is a bit of a tip - a small village inflated by touristic development - but it has plenty of bars, Karaoke, etc. The prices are fine like in most of Portugal. The beach is great (neverending) and there are several more typically portuguese towns (Castro Marim, Vila Real do Sto Antonio) nearby, plus Spain just across the Guadiana River, which is worth visiting for the ferry ride and the seafood. I've been there twice, in passing, stayed once in a "turismo de habita莽茫o" (flat in someone's house) and once in a big hotel in the centre. It's a pretty low key place, probably only really takes off in August, and when there are portuguese holidays. |
