Travel Info Do you know some legend or funny story concerned with Sintra (Portugal)? Travel Tips Well, Sintra, as many other places of Portugal is full of legends specially concerning Moors that in the old days were in both Portugal and Spain. Most of them are very sad stories with a tragic end and others are nice stories that deal with the appearance of Virgin Mary. Perhaps one of the few funny stories I heard when I was there was the one of the birds room at the Sintra National palace. It was said that the queen was very jealous of her husband and that was always after him to see if she would get him in some suspicious attitude. One day she got him kissing the cheek of one of the maids. She was very angry and he just excused himself: "I meant it good!". So later on he said he would built a room just for the maids and in that living room the ceiling is full of birds and have the sentences "I meant it good!" (in frech - very popular in the timing).
