If i move to portugal what do i need in order to buy a car there and register it in my name?

if theres some tax left on the car is this kept until it runs out ?

It depends!!! Are you buying in cash or bank credit?
You don't need to b resident to register it in your name, only passport, but you'll never get a bank credit without residence card. OK! TELESEGURO or SEGURO IMPERIO are the cheaper ones, for car insurance.
