I wanna go 2 Portugal........?

Travel Info
I plan 2 go with a few friends during our winter break... somewhere in january.... question is how are the beaches there in january?? are they even open?? are there any tourists at this time?? Would we enjoy the beaches at this time of the year? juz to summarise... are there like girls wearing bikinis on the beaches? (sounds more like it...)

Travel Tips
With average highs in the high 40s to 50s, I would doubt you'd seem many bikinis in January. Sorry.

We were in the Azores in April, and it was a bit cool then for swimming, but they are in the Atlantic, not the Mediterranean.

I'm sure you'll get a response from someone who has been on the beaches in January. And maybe there are some hearty Scandanavians about who would have a go at bikinis in those temps.

On the other hand, it should be a fun trip with lots of other things to do and enjoy. Source(s): http://www.portugalportugal.com/weather....

Other Travel Tips
Are you going to the Algarve? if so it will be much like the Costa del Sol where I live. The beaches will be open but I doubt if there will be any girls on them in bikinis. It can be pleasant then but unpredicatable as it can also turn cold and wet, you have to take pot luck.

January is the coldest month for them...beaches may be difficult. I would check the weather for the Algarve region in southern Portugal. The water will be chilly as it is the Atlantic and not the Med.

I've been to Portugal a few times - mostly in the summer - and love it! I've thought about moving there.

The beaches in Portugal never close... but January on the beach?...it will be raining like crazy, possilble storms and freezing. From October until begining of May is rain and rain and more rain...
