Travel Info What are must do things in Lisbon,Portugal ? Travel Tips Take a day trip out to Cascais and Belem...especially Bel茅m, where you can see the famous Padr茫o dos Descobrimentos statue and the Torre de Bel茅m jutting out into the river. For a great view of Lisbon, especially on a sunny day, head to the Castelo do S茫o Jorge. Another worthy daytrip is to the UNESCO town of Sintra, where you can ascend up to Castelo dos Mouros for a great view from a clifftop. If you try to hike from Sintra to the Castelo, wear sturdy sneakers and bring extra clothes - the temperature is a lot cooler at the top, and it takes approximately 45-60 minutes to get to the top. In the Chiado and Alfama districts, you can take in a more historical aspect of Lisbon. For good nightlife, I would suggest trying the Bairro Alto area. Have fun! Others Make sure you visit Alfama, which is "Old Lisbon". You can take one of the trolleys up to the Castle of St. George. The view of the city is really beautiful. When you're in Alfama, make sure you go to one of the small restaurants that has live "Fado". Fado is a form of Portuguese folk music. It's been called the "Portuguese Blues" Even if you don't understand the language, the passion in the songs is hard to miss. Lisbon is a great City. You should visit Expo 98, the world fair.. has a nice "Oceanario", cable cars, restaurants. There are nice monuments along the coast, Torre de Belem, Monasterio Dos Jeronimos. There is a Castle, nothing to special to see in there because it is in ruins, but has an spectacular view of Lisbon. If you have enough time you should visit the town of Sintra, about 1.5 hours from Lisbon. Been there twice |
