I am British but want to take my driving test in Portugal, is this possible? |
Travel Info I am British but want to take my driving test in Portugal, is this possible? Travel Tips dont see why not.. in fact if you live there Im pretty certain you would need to take a Portuegese or Polish driving test. You cannot however use a non UK driving licesnce for more than (I think) 12 months in the UK, then you woiuld have to take a UK driving test or be illegal (so your insurance is void, if youget stopped by the police its driving without a licensce so you car could be forfit) Others Yes it is if you want to stay over there and drive You can't come back over here and drive, you will need to do your test again. C'mon now - how many driving licenses does one person need? A Greek one and a Portuguese one! You could do it in Portugal, you could do it in Greece, or the Ukraine, or Latvia, or Germany or Poland, or Slovenia or Belgium or France. If you do it in any of these places you will have to pay more for your car insurance with most insurance agencies and you probably will have to pass a written test in a foreign language and also know the local road signs and highway code. Yes you can do your driving test anywhere in Europe (most countries will let you do it). But you will have a foreign licence not a UK licence at the end of the day. Are there any other countries you would like to take your test - so far you have asked about Greece, Poland and Portugal. Why not just take it in Britain - maybe a bit more information as to why you want to take it abroad will get you a more definitive answer. I thought you wanted it in Poland or Greece? If you are to live there why not, but, if you intend living in the UK surely it is better to have a British D/lic. I'm starting to wonder if you're a bad driver! Your last few questions have involved trying to find out the easiest country in Europe to pass your test. Why not learn to drive properly and pass it here. Unless you speak the language of that country fairly fluently, you're unlikely to pass your test there!! |
