is it worth me booking a taxi transfer from the air port?

There are always plenty of taxis at Faro airport and for Praia da Rocha (v.near Alvor) they cost 70-75 euros. Worth it if you enjoy traveling in a Mercedes!

There is a mini-bus service from the airport throughout the day.
Costs 18 euros per person and takes you to the door of your building. Collects you from the door of the building on the way back! http://www.low-cost-transfer.com...

There is also a mini-bus shuttle service that will take 4 people for a total of 45 euros.

Alvor is quite a way from Faro airport, I would book a taxi or you could probably get one cheaper at the airport, Nice place by the way, go to the old town at night, and sample the Fish in the many fish restaurants, the best are by the old port, have a great time!
