Lisbon or Porto? |
Travel Info Im planning to visit Portugal this year.I wanted your opinions..Shall i stay in at Lisbon or Porto?? Travel Tips Some of my best friends are Lisbons. Others If you like partying it up and a more cosmo place, Lisbon. I personally liked Porto more. I thought the city center was very attractive. one of the most beautiful scenes I've ever witnessed was coming through a tunnel on the train, and voila: there was central Porto across the river, basked in golden sunlight. you can also get drunk quite easily visiting the various port wineries. Why not visit both? I don't know how much time you have, but if you have 5 days, you can easily see both. 2 days for each, and half a day traveling between the two on a train. See them both! It doesn't take that long to tour the whole country. If you do go from Porto to Lisbon, take an afternoon to stop in Nazare about in the middle. A very beautiful town on the beach, fishing town. Then if you're going in the summer, definitely visit the Algarve on the southern edge. Another town on the beach with party fun in the evenings. Don't miss all of the castles and churches along the way...beautiful. Bom Dia It's about 340 km between Lisbon and Porto, so you can well visit both and feel their differences. In Lisbon, don't forget to visit the Monastery of Jer贸nimos and the Tower of Bel茅m, plus the zoo (an old one), the Oceanarium and the Casino of Estoril. In Porto, do visit the wineries in Gaia (a city right on the other side of the river, you'll just have to cross a small bridge), where you'll be able to taste the well known Port wine, plus I believe you may also find the architecture interesting. As for castles and churches along the way, as someone else mentioned, there are plenty to choose from, and you may not only go to Nazar茅, but also to Tomar (with an interesting Templars castle), Coimbra (an old university town where they sing a different kind of fado than in Lisbon) and 脫bidos (very pretty, you'll love it). I will go in the capital Do both! Lisbon is the Capital and ia very nice charming and with other great cities near by but....Porto is the Herat and Soul of Portugal..it is also beautiful and unique..very original historical and its people are great..so basicaly try both, Porto is only 3 hours by train from lisbon! www.cp.pt http://experienceportugal.blogspot.com/... Have FUN!!! |
