What are the weaknesses of portugal for tourists? |
Travel Info I need to no the overall weaknesses of portugal! i have never been, so dont really know! i need it for a presentation i have to do, so no silly ideas thanks! just generally why dont as many people go to portugal as they would, say spain or france! thanks! Travel Tips Portugal can be expensive compaired to Spain and France. I personally think it is much nicer though. Lisbon is very hilly and not suitable for people with walking difficulties. If you look into the accommodation costs on line or through an agent then you will find that for the same rating accommodation in Spain Prtugal is nearly always more expensive. You can get good deals but they are few and far between. The choices in Spain are greater as well. Portugal is a place where you really need to hire a car to get to see all the places as well so if you dont want to drive then you are stuck a little bit. I've not been there yet, for these reasons: 1. Lack of competive airfare prices 2. Perception that it's harder to navigate without speaking Portugeuse 3. As a potential visitor, I am not very aware of cultural highlights, landmarks etc. that would sway me away from Portugal's neighbouring country I think it's because people know very little about Portugal and portuguese culture whereas knowledge of Spanish culture is widespread. Also, it's probably to do with the fact that Spain is so cheap to travel to now...and even stay there for a few weeks! The worst things are the food, the driving and the prices. It is noticeably poorer than Spain and quite backward. The North is rather poorer. The sea is colder and it rains more than the Mediterranean. Been there; done that. (Tourism and work) Having visited many times, usually traveling by public transportation, all I can say is "they don't know what they're missing!".
